I have been at a YMCA since 1998. Finding exercise saved my life. I found adventure racing! Its more than just an activity, it became a passion and a way of life. I found the power of participating in physical activity and how it can have a profoundly positive impact on a persons life.


I started New Start Concepts in 2014 in IL. I have recently opened a new Studio here in Travelers Rest.

Why New Start Concepts-Functional Fitness?
As a child I was always active and my Mom was right there beside me every step of the way through life. I had to keep up with her! One day my Mom became very sick. She was diagnosed with emphysema, it was so bad she was put on the list for a lung transplant. Soon after, she caught pneumonia in her good lung. Her health decreased so rapidly that even simple things like a short walk from the car to the store became impossible. When she passed, it became a struggle to keep life together. I had a 9 month old and a 2 year old and my Mom was such an important part of our lives. Tired of being stressed and felling bad, I decided to find time to take care of myself. I had to for my own sanity and for my kids. I started taking care of my fitness in 1998 and have not looked back. Over the years, functional fitness became my passion and the desire to help others feel well again.

My dream, which has become my main goal is to help others be functional at fitness no matter where a person is in life.

1. How often should I work out? 

The average person should get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week and Strength training exercises for all major muscle groups at least two times a week.

2. What do you specialize in?

Functional fitness. Exercises that train your muscles to help you do everyday activities safely and efficiently.

3. How do you assess new clients?

I perform a Functional Movement screen to see where any imbalances are in your body.

4. Do you train people with injuries or after surgery?

I will work with you and ease you back into a routine to help strengthen you.
